Job Summary

Lead the 2nd-3rd grade boys' and/or girls' basketball teams at Sand Gap Elementary School.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practice plans, game strategies, and rules to meet the needs of students.
• Create a positive team environment that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for opponents.
• Teach fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense.
• Ensure student safety during practices and games.
• Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and school administrators regarding player progress and team performance.
• Maintain accurate records of team scores, game results, and player statistics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; coaching certification preferred.
• Experience working with children aged 8-10 years old is highly desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 25 pounds and move around the gymnasium as needed.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and maintain attention during practices and games.
• Must be able to travel to away games (as determined by school administration).
