About the Employer

General Cleaning

• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums floors, carpets, and stairs.
• Dusts furniture, walls, whiteboards, and equipment.

Sanitation

• Cleans and disinfects restrooms, drinking fountains, and high-touch surfaces daily.
• Restocks paper products and soap dispensers.

Trash Removal

• Empties trash cans inside the building and manages cafeteria waste disposal during and after lunch periods.

Grounds Maintenance

• Sweeps entryways, picks up debris around sidewalks, parking lots, and play areas.

Building Security

• Secures and locks doors, closes windows, turns off lights, and sets building alarms at the end of shifts.

Safety Compliance

• Follows guidelines under the Texas Hazardous Communications Act regarding the safe storage, labeling, and handling of cleaning chemicals and safety data sheets (SDS).

Setup and Maintenance

• Moves furniture and assists in setting up equipment for school assemblies, meetings, and special events.
• Reports maintenance repair needs via work order systems.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred, but many districts accept equivalent work experience.

Certifications

Valid Texas driver's license or State ID may be required.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, and lift or move heavy objects weighing up to 50 to 100 pounds.

Knowledge

Ability to safely operate commercial cleaning equipment (buffers, vacuums, extractors) and comprehend safety instructions and chemical labels
