Part Time Teaching Assistant

The Birches Academy of Academics & Art, a STEM integrated charter school in Salem, NH, seeks a part-time teaching assistant to assist a lead teacher for the 26-27 school year. This is not a special ed/para position and is good experience for someone who may want to become a teacher.
• Assist the lead teacher in the implementation of a rigorous core academic program
• Assist the lead teacher to integrate steam into the core curriculum/middle school math
• Instruct and facilitate student learning
• Foster critical thinking in students
• Provide emotionally and developmentally appropriate experiences for students
• Adjust instruction to engage/challenge learners, encourage independent learning & o develop a lifelong love of learning in students
• Assist in the supervision of student lunch and recess periods
• Work as a professional member of a grade-level teaching team
• Assist the lead teacher in meeting individual needs of each student
• Minimum of one shift in our before and/or after care program
• Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings
• At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not necessary
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
